NU Admission Circular 2025-2026

The National University officially released the admission circular on November 20, 2025. The admission process for the 2025-2026 session will be online.

This year brings a big update. In the past, admission was based only on GPA. However, this year students must sit for a 100-mark MCQ Admission Test. If you want to apply for Honours 1st year Admission, you need to know the new rules.

NU Admission Test Date

The specific date, time, and center details are now officially announced in the circular dated 07/04/2026. The NU Admission 2025-2026 test will be held on 25 April 2026, Saturday, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the college centre mentioned in the Admit Card.

However, you must download your admit card between 11 April 2026 and 24 April 2026 through the Applicant Login (Honours Login) or Honours Tab > Admit Card Download on the official website (www.nu.ac.bd/admissions). Your specific centre, seat plan, and all instructions will be mentioned on that card. You must reach the centre by 10:15 AM on the exam day.

Application Eligibility

Do you want to apply for Honours 1st year? You must meet the minimum GPA requirements. This applies to both SSC and HSC exams. The requirements are different for each group.

1. Humanities Group

  • SSC/Equivalent: Passed in 2022 or 2023. Minimum GPA: 2.0.
  • HSC/Equivalent: Passed in 2024 or 2025. Minimum GPA: 2.0.
  • Total GPA: Both exams combined must be at least 4.5.

2. Science & Business Studies Group

  • SSC/Equivalent: Passed in 2022 or 2023. Minimum GPA: 2.25.
  • HSC/Equivalent: Passed in 2024 or 2025. Minimum GPA: 2.0.
  • Total GPA: Both exams combined must be at least 4.75.
  • Note: This includes students from the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (Vocational/Business Management/Diploma-in-Commerce).

3. O-Level & A-Level Students

  • O-Level: Passed in 2022/2023. Must have a ‘B’ grade in at least 3 subjects and pass 4 subjects.
  • A-Level: Passed in 2024/2025. Must have a ‘B’ grade in at least 1 subject and pass 2 subjects.
  • Application Method: Apply directly to the Dean, School of Undergraduate Studies, NU. You can email ([email protected]) or go in person by 04 January 2026.

How to Apply?

The application process is 100% online. Follow these simple steps at www.nu.ac.bd admission:

  1. Visit the Website: Go to the National University Admission website. Click on the Apply Now (Honours) option.
  2. Fill Information: Enter your SSC and HSC Roll Number, Registration Number, Board, and Passing Year. Also, enter your mobile number carefully.
  3. Verify Gender: Check if the gender shown (Male/Female) is correct. Is there an error? Use the “Click to Change” option to fix it immediately.
  4. Select College & Subject: You will see a list of subjects you are eligible for. Select your preferred college. Arrange your subjects in order of your choice.
  5. Quota Application: Do you have a quota (Freedom Fighter, Tribal, etc.)? Select the specific quota option. You must have original certificates for verification later.
  6. Upload Photo: Upload a recent passport-size color photo.
    • Size: 120 x 150 pixels.
    • Format: JPG.
    • File Size: Maximum 50 KB.
  7. Submit & Download: Check all information. Click “Submit Application”. Download and print the A4 size application form.
  8. Payment: Pay the application fee of 1,000 BDT. You must pay this to the college via their Mobile Banking system or directly. The deadline is 04 January 2026.
    • Important: If you do not pay the fee, your application will not be confirmed.

Admit Card Download

You cannot sit for the test without an Admit Card. You must be Download the NU Admission Admit Card 2026 from 11 April to 24 April 2026.

  • When to Download: Download your Admit Card between April 11 and April 24, 2026.
  • How to Download: Log in to the “Applicant Login (Honours Login)” section on the official admission website: www.nu.ac.bd/admissions. Use your Application ID and PIN to log in.
  • Examination Date: April 25, 2026 (Saturday).
  • Examination Time: 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
  • Reporting Time: Candidates must arrive at their designated exam center and take their seats by 10:15 AM.

Requirements for the Exam Hall:

  1. Admit Card: Printed copy downloaded from the website.
  2. HSC Registration Card: Your original registration card must be brought along.

NU Admission Test Instruction 2026

Marks Distribution

The NU Admission Result 2026 merit list uses a total of 200 Marks. This combines your written test score and your GPA score.

1. Written Admission Test (100 Marks)

  • Format: MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions).
  • Duration: 1 Hour.
  • Pass Mark: 35.
  • Negative Marking: Good news! No marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

Subject-wise Distribution:

The test is separate for Humanities, Science, and Business Education.

  • Humanities: Bangla (20), English (20), General Knowledge (20), and Subject-based questions.
  • Science: Bangla (20), English (20), General Knowledge (20), and Subject-based questions.
  • Business Studies: Bangla (20), English (20), General Knowledge (20), and Subject-based questions.

2. GPA Score (100 Marks)

Your previous results matter. They make up the remaining 100 marks.

  • SSC GPA: GPA x 40% calculation.
  • HSC GPA: GPA x 60% calculation.

Seat Plan

National University does not publish a separate “Seat Plan” PDF. Your Seat Location (Center Name) is printed on your Admit Card. However, you can Search your Exam Center by your Application ID through the NU Admission Website www.nu.ac.bd/admissions.

On the day of the exam, the college authority will arrange the seating. They will separate Humanities, Science, and Business students. Look for the room plan on the college notice board.

Admission Result

The NU Admission Result 2026 process has several stages:

  • Merit List: Candidates are selected based on the Total Score (Test + GPA) and subject choice. For the 2025-2026 academic year, the 2nd merit list will be published on May 21, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Results can be checked via SMS from 4:00 PM and on the admission website from 9:00 PM.
    Selected candidates in the 2nd merit list must fill out the online Final Admission Form and download their copy between June 3, 2026, and June 11, 2026. The registration fee of 1,130 TK must be submitted to the college between June 4, 2026, and June 13, 2026, and the college must complete final admission confirmation on or before June 14, 2026.
    Any student admitted in the 2024-2025 academic year must cancel their previous admission by June 9, 2026, to be eligible.
  • Tie-Breaker: What if two students have the same score? Priority goes to higher Admission Test marks. Then, combined GPA (excluding 4th subject). Finally, age is considered.
  • Migration: Not happy with your assigned subject? You can opt for migration. This upgrades you to a higher preference subject in your assigned college based on merit and vacant seats. Students on the 2nd merit list wishing to change their subject must select the ‘Yes’ option in the specific box on the final admission form. For students from the 1st merit list, the subject change results will be published on May 21, 2026, at 4:00 PM. The subject change admission form must be downloaded between June 3, 2026, and June 11, 2026. If a subject is successfully changed, the previous admission is canceled; if not, the previous subject admission remains valid.
  • Release Slip: Did you miss the 1st or 2nd merit list? Or do you want to change colleges? You can apply for the Release Slip. Note that only 2 release slips are allowed. There is no 3rd slip.

How to Check Result?

NU Honours Admission Result 2nd Merit List 2026 and Migration Result has been Published on 21 May, 2026, 4:00 PM. You can check your result in two easy ways:

1. Online Method:

  • Visit www.nu.ac.bd/admissions.
  • Go to the “Admission Test Result” section.
  • Enter your Roll and PIN to view your status.

2. SMS Method:

  • Type this format: nu <space> athn <space> Application_ID/Admission Roll
  • Send it to 16222.
  • Example: nu athn 1234567

Final Admission Form Fill-up

If you are selected in the merit list, congratulations! Now you must complete the final admission form.

  1. Log in to the website ‍www.nu.ac.bd/admissions. Fill out the Final Admission Form.
  2. Pay the Registration Fee of 1,130 BDT. (Note: The circular says the college submits 1,130 BDT to NU. However, you usually pay a higher amount to the college to cover their internal fees).
  3. The college will collect the final fee (Admission + Registration).
  4. Submit the printed Final Admission Form, Marksheets, and Photos to the college office. Do this within the deadline.

FAQ

Is there a calculator allowed in the exam?

No. You cannot bring calculators, mobile phones, or any electronic devices.

Can I apply if I am already studying at NU?

No. You must cancel your previous admission (2024-2025 session) first. If you have double admission, both registrations will be cancelled.

Can I change my application if I made a mistake?

Yes, but only once. You can cancel your form online using an OTP. Then, re-apply. However, if the college has already confirmed your application, you cannot change it.

What is the pass mark for the admission test?

You must score at least 35 marks out of 100 to pass.
